This BSP still applies targopts.h

./c/src/lib/libbsp/powerpc/mbx8xx/include/coverhd.h:#include <rtems/score/targopts.h> /* for INSTRUCTION_CACHE_ENABLE */

I plan to eliminate targopts.h, which would mean rendering the BSP non-functional.
