Description

With the large number of ports and BSPs that RTEMS has, there are always warnings to address. This is an important task which seems to always need attention. Periodically, Joel posts warning reports such as https://ftp.rtems.org/pub/rtems/people/joel/warnings/warnings-5-20200313/. This includes a file which reports on the frequency of a specific unique warning along with which source files and BSP produced that warning. For example, a warning in a test may appear for every BSP but one in a BSP specific file may only occur once. The RTEMS BSP Builder reports on the quantity of warnings produced. See https://lists.rtems.org/pipermail/build/2020-March/010918.html for an example report.

WARNING: Use the latest reports and ask if there isn’t one recent enough to be useful.

You will have to build a specific BSP to verify the warning is still present and that your modifications address it. This will require a toolset for that architecture.

Post a patch to the devel@ mailing list. Don’t be discouraged if you are told that you are covering up the issue, not fixing it or that it is hard to fix across all architectures.
